Suicide Prevention Program

The Suicide Prevention Program offers immediate, follow-up and short-term support to persons in suicidal crisis.

Information, in-services, and workshops on suicide prevention, intervention and grief after suicide are offered. Awareness and training sessions have been made to a variety of community agencies and staff such as peer support inmates at the Women's Prison, Youth Health Advisory Council and secondary and post secondary schools.

If you are concerned about someone who has attempted suicide or who is chronically suicidal, you can get face-to-face information and support through our Caregiver Support Program.

Bereavement support and debriefing are also provided to individuals, families, schools, businesses and agencies in the community suffering a loss through suicide. Access is through the administration line (482-0198) but in an emergency, the Suicide Prevention Program can be accessed through the Distress Line. (482-4357).
