Capital Campaign launched

April 18, 2005

On April 18, 2005, The Support Network launched a Capital Campaign to raise $2 million for an endowment fund.

"Here to listen when life hurts"

At the Launch

Mayor Stephen Mandel spoke words of encouragement for a successful campaign and highlighted the importance of the organization to the community.

Porscha and Ashley Demyen

Porscha and Ashley Demyen

Our two youngest fundraisers, Porscha and Ashley Demyen, mounted a campaign called, “Putting your handprint on the community” in November 2004. They asked for help from friends, family and at their schools to support the “Little Demyen Family Fund” as part of the greater endowment. The girls reached their goal of $10,000 in April 2005. We are very proud of them.

To date, thanks to the support of donors and volunteers, we are at 1.2 million dollars in our campaign!

The Cabinet

The Campaign Cabinet has been busy in the background making contacts, cultivating relationships and soliciting major gifts to the fund. They all know that anyone, anytime might need to reach out for help when life hurts.

The Support Network helps connect people to the heart of the community so they can find the right help for themselves, a friend, or a family member.

Marshall Sadd

Marshall Sadd, President of Lloyd Sadd Insurance, is heavily involved as Chair of the Capital Campaign.

All programs benefit from the campaign, but especially:

  • Distress Line
  • Seniors’ Abuse Help Line
  • Walk-In Counselling
  • Youth One
  • Caregiver and Bereavement Support

Help the way you want it…

by phone, in person, online, or in the community.

The Foundation

The Support Network Foundation was formalized as a legal entity in August 2004. The Foundation will steward the endowment and drive fundraising for the fund. Foundation Chair, J. Angus Watt, Managing Director of National Bank Financial, has a long history as a supporter of the organization and kicked off the Major Gift division of our Capital Campaign as Chair in 2003.
